We have Superior Walls!

Drone Shot Taken & Sent to us by Our Neighbors

Superior Walls put in July 25, 2017 and we visited the site the following day....

During the selection process Darryl and I did a significant amount of research and chose a product called Superior Walls for our foundation. The standard would have been a poured concrete foundation and in our state, NY, concrete block foundations also used to be very common.

Superior walls were an a option on the Master Selection sheet. The cost of the upgrade to Superior walls for our home, the Avalon, was $10k. Yes, a bit pricey, but a future benefit for us when we finish our basement after close.

Everyone keeps asking us what Superior Walls are so here is my very non-professional description. Superior walls are manufactured in a factory and are basically precast 4'x8' (I think), pre-framed (for drywall) and fully insulated foundation walls. According to our research they offer a dryer basement that will be less susceptible to mold. In short, they are made according to blueprints and then the pre-cast walls are delivered to the site on trucks and set in place with a huge crane. During the set the walls are sealed and bolted together. If you are interested in learning more about superior walls I have included a link to the website: http://www.superiorwalls.com/

The original plan was the walls were to be set Monday, but due to the abundance of rain they were delayed until Tuesday per the Town's restrictions. I'm so disappointed that they were set Tuesday instead of Monday because I had appointments and couldn't get to the site to watch the crane set the walls.  It would have made an awesome video!

Although we are really excited to have walls I find my frustrations with Ryan Homes continue. The PM has told us previously that he needs 3 days advance notice prior to us being on site  I get it, he's got a busy schedule. However, we (my husband and I)  also have busy schedules and so does our privately hired inspector. It would be really nice if our PM would send us texts when things are delayed or rescheduled just so we can plan rather than call and email all over to find out if things are still on schedule for the day. This makes it extremely difficult to coordinate with our inspector.  Anyway,  despite the headache of playing middleman and scheduler between the PM and Inspector, I did finally arrange a time for our inspector to meet the PM on site today at 12:30pm. Our inspector checked out the walls and will send us a report. On his way out today he told me overall the walls look good! Yaaaaa!

Here are some photos our 11 year old daughter took of the walls today:
